I see you calling me for a show

I see this all the time all over the web. Different credentials for hypnotist. Dr. this and Rev. that the funniest, the best, the fastest etc….

So let me set the record straight.

A Comedy Hypnosis Show is one of the most amazing and entertaining events that you could ever have for your organization. It uses the power of your mind to unleash a person’s creativity when properly encouraged.

People ask me all the time why I don’t have some kind of initials behind my name. Do I have any credentials?? Like a Doctorate in hypnosis??

So let me set the record straight. I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Communications from Valdosta State University with a minor in theater, Radio TV and Film. I have two years of Engineering school from Southern Technology College of Ga. (Southern Tech), I have an Recording Engineers Certificate from the Recording workshop in Ohio and several audio industry and communications industry certifications.

I also have a hypnotist, master hypnotist, Hypnotherapist, and Clinical Hypnotherapist certifications from the Atlanta National School of Georgia one of the only state certified brick and mortar (not an online school) hypnosis schools in the country. I have a stage Hypnotist certification from the National Guild of Hypnotists (the largest hypnosis organization in the world) a Hypnosis Aided Child Birthing certification from Omni Hypnosis Group in Deland Fla. (home of renowned hypnosis teacher Gerry Kein) and a certification from the Hypnosis Motivational Institute in California (the only accredited hypnosis college in the world.) I do not have a doctorate in hypnosis because there is no such thing from an ACREDITED college. There is only a online/mail order course.

So …. anyone you see who posts that they are a Dr. in hypnosis and is not a psychotherapist with a PHD (that’s a real accredited doctorate) they are pulling your leg to get you to hire them.

I do know a few real PHD’s who are hypnotists. Some have cousulted with me for help on their understanding and use of hypnosis with their clients. Some are my colleagues in the Ga chapter of the National Guild of Hypnotist. Some are real PHD but have them in other fields like my dear friend and colleague Dr. Charles Skillis who has a PHD in Aeronautical Engineering and is a very smart man and a wonderful hypnotist. Dr. Skillis is quick to put the Dr. by his name and why not, he earned a PHD.

Those HYPNOTIST who have a Dr. by their name, especially stage hypnotists are just marketing. They have no PHD because one does not exist. And let me ask you, If they are misleading you with credentials, what else might they be misleading you with.

If I had letters by my name it would go something like this

Rev. David Bryan Smith BFA,Cht (bachelor fine arts, clinical hypnotherapist)

I don’t have letters by my name because I’m an entertainer for more that 30 years and I’ve found that the people who hire me don’t always have letters by their name unless it is a school or University. I’m a regular guy with some extra ordinary talents and I’ve gone to great lengths to educate myself in my area. I have volumes of material on hypnosis, showmanship, stage craft and marketing. But my biggest lessons are realized on stage with my guests performing for our audience. You see every person on my stage is my guest not the subject of some hypnosis experiment. They are guests on my stage like they were guests in my home and my audience is a group of old friends that came to see me weave a tale of comedy, adventure, excitement and imagination.

Yes, you will laugh at my show. Listen to my testimonials and you’ll find that people laugh at my show more than they have laughed in years and they have such a good time I’m often invited back, just like a good friend.

What they don’t find is a lot of fake marketing. Yes, I’ve been Called “The funniest Hypnotist, The Fastest Hypnotist, The best Hypnotist, The most Creative hypnotist …….. but never by me. Always by my audience and I let them tell you about it instead of boasting and making wild claims that no one could validate. I choose to be a Gentleman. And even If I am the best, funniest, fastest, most creative etc… I’ll let my audience tell you about it and let you make up your own mind.

So….. if your looking for puffery about hypnosis there are many who will shout their so called merits for all to hear. To me it just sounds like noise.
